"The path to immortality is not a simple one. You will face both crossroads and dead ends. Each choice changes destiny. Choose well." Raphael, Archangel.
This is my second time reading this series and this is still my favorite of all the books!
Dec is gone and everyone is devastated! Sean is headed into a tailspin and Mica is the only one who can anchor him. So the book starts with Mica trying to help a miserable Sean to come back and not slip into the darkness. Sean is concerned he may be on the path to evil and unable to stop himself. Mostly he's a dick (whatever, we all have bad days - I can forgive Sean anything), especially to Mica who won't stop trying to help him. Throughout this Killian is out looking for Sgaine Dutre to stop stop Jordan's apocalyptic plans.
So the Primani world is in full on clusterfuck, Sean takes off and Mica meets Rivin, who is entrusted to help her and protect her. The guy is arrogant, rude, sexist and fucking hilarious! I just love him regardless if everyone else wants to kill him. Mica and him clash and hilarity ensues ... ("Why Rivin, darlin', you should;ve woken me up to fetch you some food! I had no idea you were too stupid to make a sandwich")
Needless to say this book has ups, downs, twists, turns, and full on insanity - and it's brilliant. Mica has become extremely powerful in her own right and has a lot of huge decisions to make in this book. The imagery is beautiful, there are lots of new characters introduced (HELL-O TWINS <3) and it's just all around brilliant as usual. Everyone has a destiny to fulfill and the path to said destiny is full of crazyness. If you haven't read this series yet ---- WHY????
