"Being possessed was like heartburn - only ten million times worse" - Clark
Book 2 in Meg's awesome series Day's of New series has Camille pissed off at the damn humans and Clark possessed by a demon, and in a cell, accused of murder and super annoyed by the whole situation - especially the fact that Michaela hasn't done a damn thing to help him!
A lot of this book is focused on Camille - who is pissed off at the humans, worried about Clark and trying to figure out how to save him. I love Camille, her no nonsense, angry attitude is just brilliantly written, and it's emotional seeing her fight against feelings she is unfamiliar with. Desperately denying her love for Clark, the fact that she can't have a good night sleep without having him beside her and any feelings that don't revolve around her killing something - something she really enjoys is quite entertaining, and a little emotional. She fears she will never escape Michaela's shadow and hated even having that weakness to begin with. It's nice to see her bloom with quasi-emotions - will she admit her love though? Everyone knows she'll fight to the death to help Clark - but will she ever admit her feelings for him? Does she have the strength for it? Does she believe he can ever really love her? So, her character development is really fantastic in this installment!
Clark is trapped in jail, the refugee's are rioting, the Descendents have no leadership - and no one wants the position of leader and the Nephilim are a mess! Add to that the "Government Officials" impending visit and everyone is scrambling. It looks like Clark is going to be made an example of - in a "trial". Needless to say, Clarks internal dialog with the demon possessing him as well as with his jailers is hilarious as usual. He refuses to use his powers as he doesn't want to risk the demon figuring out how to take / use them - so he's stuck in jail / through a trial and eventually an exorcism and handling it all as Clark would - with sarcastic comments and faith in his friends to save him.
The only reason I'm not giving this a 5/5 is that there is less action that usually found in Meg's books and although it wasn't totally necessary - it didn't have as many edge of my seat, mouth hanging open moments that previous ones had. Not a complaint though as this was still an awesome read and I can't wait to see where it goes from here!
